Freshwater Biome
The Freshwater biome is rich and full of life. This biome is mostly found in North and South America, due to the need for humid and moist weather to create a freshwater biome. Some of the well known Freshwater biomes are the Mississippi River in the U.S.A., the Amazon in South America, and the Florida Everglades in the U.S.A. This biome occurs everywhere in the world, but not in as large a biome as these giant rivers, since the majority of freshwater biomes are ponds and lakes. These biomes do not thrive year long, only in the warmer months of the year.
Map/Locations
The majority of the freshwater biomes in the world are in North and South America, in Tropical Rain Forests, but some are located in the eastern hemisphere. The largest freshwater biomes in the world are the Great Lakes, Amazon River, Mississippi River, Florida Everglades, and Lake Baikal in Asia. In the map below, Freshwater biomes are located in the Tropical Rain Forest and Temperate Deciduous Forests.
